BIO
Highly praised for his ability to create business alignment, Marco Gottini is an executive advisor with almost twenty years of international consulting experience.

In the technology world Marco is best known as a trusted advisor, who creates alignment between business and technology, especially when a company is working on critical digital transformation. After an envisioning workshop, a customer executive said “We connected with Marco immediately and aligned our vision. The outcome of his envisioning workshop was exactly what we needed to drive our digital transformation”.

Relevance. As Business Consulting Director at BT Marco supported customers in defining business strategy and developing measurable transformation plans to achieve business objectives. His ability to guide the customer to pause and look at the big picture transformed a small management consulting engagement into a $5 million services proposal. Marco made the discussion relevant to the customer by leveraging BT’s showroom “store of the future” in NYC to make his customer envision a future where technology and innovation revolutionize in-store customer experience. Marco strongly believes in personal relevance to foster creative thinking and grow the relationship with customers into a true partnership. Marco’s personal story is about family and wine. He grew up in a vineyard in Italy, where he had first-hand experience watching how family business is grown. Also, he has family ties to the only winery left in Los Angeles (San Antonio Winery). He leverages the winery as an inspirational venue to grow deeper, more personal relationships with the customers.

Consultative approach. Marco is a well-rounded executive advisor who understands both business and technology and can communicate effectively with executives as well as technical teams. Marco quickly understands the big picture by gathering information from executives and lines of business and mapping it to business model and innovation initiatives. Is the customer transforming customer experience, changing value prop or pivoting business entirely? Each journey is different and Marco leverages his skills to create a tailored approach to business alignment in each each situation. A key element of every engagement is to simplify complexity by framing business problems through business-model analysis and transformation maps. Most importantly, he communicates results in a simple and actionable way.

Innovation. Marco believes that a combination of art and science is required to drive true innovation. He describes innovation with the metaphor of fire: creativity is the spark; corporate culture is the fireplace; methodical execution is the fuel. All three are necessary for innovation to catch fire in an organization. Marco combines Customer Centric Innovation and Lean LaunchPad methodologies to drive successful product innovation and develop business ideas.

Marco completed the prestigious Berkeley-Columbia MBA in 2012; he focused his studies at UC Berkeley-Haas on entrepreneurship and high-tech strategy and at Columbia Business School on finance and marketing (customer-centric innovation). He also holds a MSEE from Milan Polytechnic (Milan, Italy; 2001).

Marco lives in Los Angeles. His hobbies include sports and travel. He helps family and friends with business coaching. He volunteers and is very involved in his local community – Marco supports fun, local sport initiatives for charity and has also been the HOA Board of Directors President for 120-unit complex that is managing a $1 million budget.
